A-Z of the show

Our Art & Craft Show event is one big celebration of our amazing parish and school community and the voluntary effort by so many people who make it happen!

Every year we build upon the year before, with an exciting variety of art, craft, music, food and rides for visitors of all ages to enjoy.

A: Art and Craft
It's our reason for being! This year the Art Committee has organised over 55 recognised artists/studios to exhibit and sell their work, offering a diverse range of sculpture, paintings, drawings and other wall art. The Craft Committee has 39 stalls, located both inside and outside the school hall. Many exhibitors will return this year and we have some new ones in store as well!

B: Book stall
Selling pre-loved books and children's games at bargain prices is what this is about. It’s a great way to pick up the latest novels or books for the kids to fill your shelves. Last year the book stall sold over 1,500 books.

C: Chocolate Wheel
Our BIG SPIN is the best on the lower north shore and will be spinning up a huge range of exciting new prizes this year!

D: DVDs
Pre-loved DVDs will be sold by the Book Stall for the first time this year, so be sure to think of the Show when you’re spring cleaning your cupboards.

E: Entertainment

This ranges from thrilling rides for kids of all ages, including giant slides, horizontal bungee and teacups ride as well as music performances, face painting, show bags and toy stalls. There’s also a raft of varied craft activities for young children that use glue, glitter, beads, feathers and all things that sparkle!

F: Face painting

A firm favourite with the kids, this is made possible by a team of talented and dedicated parent face-painters who create amazing designs to add fun and frivolity to the kids’ Show experience.

G: Gourmet food

Food delights for the whole family are available, from home baked goodies to BBQ lamb rolls, as well as a range of boutique delights such as choc dipped

strawberries, breakfast treats and much more.

H: Home Baked goods

This kitchen committee organises the cake stall, and accepts all types of homemade goods including jams and savoury muffins.  The stall is well supported by school parents, grandparents, family and friends.  The committee also organises a cake decorating competition for St Thomas’ students.

I: Ice

65 bags of it were used by the Bar Committee at last year’s Opening Night Party to keep the party drinks chilled and flowing!

J: Jewellery

The majority of exhibitors from last year’s Show are returning, with many of them showcasing new and exciting products. Favourites returning this year include Gemella, Six in a Row, Ocean Mantra and I Love that Necklace.

K: Kids Crafts and Activities

This committee organises fabulous activities that cater for toddlers right through to early teenagers. They work hard to have two or three fun activities for each age group spread over the weekend. Last year there were about ten different activities each day.

L: Lamb rolls!

Last year the café committee went through 4 whole lambs, as well as 100kg of sausages and 44kg of chicken and this was just the tip of the iceberg as far as the supply of food was concerned! This year the committee’s goal is to shorten the queues at the bbq and ensure there’s more of the delicious lamb available.

M: Market stalls

The Show presents a buzzing market bazaar including professional artworks, quality craft and exquisite hand-made designer jewellery.

O: Opening night party

Sponsored by Musson and held for our school community to kick start the festivities. Start saving for the class artwork auction! There are always a wonderful variety of mediums and techniques used with extraordinary results from every class. Due to venue size this event is exclusive to St Thomas' parents, staff and sponsors.

P: People

This Show would not happen without the incredible combined efforts of our parish, school, and business community, including teachers, students, parent volunteers and so many local businesses. Thank you all!

Q: Quality gifts

From the exhibitors organised by the art, craft and jewellery committees. Our Show is timed perfectly for the Christmas festive season so get your present list organised and tick off some Christmas shopping!

R: Raffle

This year first prize is an $8,000 holiday voucher! Be in it to win it, thanks to the efforts of our raffle committee, our class parents who organise the ticket selling roster and of course, all of our school students who sell tickets.

S: Sponsors

Thank you to all of our returning sponsors who support this event year after year.  To our major sponsor, McGrath Estate Agents  and the other wonderful local businesses that support our show – thank you for your involvement and support of the Show

T: Tombola stall

The Tombola committee organises this popular stall which sells brand new, unopened toys kindly donated by the St Thomas’ community for very good prices (compared to the shops). It is very successful and is one of the most popular attractions with the kids.  Children have been known to be given money by parents for the whole day and come straight to the Tombola stall to spend the lot (note: not recommended)!

U: Unbelievable fun

The fun of the Show is all our children talk about for weeks before and after the event.

V: Volunteers

Every committee and indeed, the whole weekend, is run and staffed by an army of volunteers from our school community and we thank every one of you for your amazing efforts.
